Story Of A Brilliant All-Rounder- Shakib Al Hasan

Shakib Al Hasan is the most prolific all-rounder of all time and the best player the Bangladesh team has ever produced. He was born in the Magura District of Bangladesh on the 24th of March, 1987. Shakib is a left-arm batter and can bowl good left-arm orthodox bowling for the team. Besides his brilliance in batting and bowling, Shakib is also a very agile fielder. He plays in the Bangladesh national team and several other franchise teams worldwide as the prime middle-order batter and the leading spin bowler which was justified by trending cricket news.

Family Of Shakib Al Hasan

Shakib’s wife, Umme Ahmed Shishir is a Bangladeshi American with a green card and due to this Shakib can also stay and work in the USA as well. His father, Khondokar Masroor Reza was a footballer and his mother, Shirin Reza was a housewife. Shakib also has a daughter named Alayna Hasan Aubrey. But in 2020, her wife also gave birth to their second daughter, Errum and in the year 2021, they had their third child who was their first baby boy.  

Records Of Shakib Al Hasan

Shakib Al Hasan is a player who is awarded several rewards in his career, mostly because of his all-round capability. Shakib still has the record of achieving the most runs as the fifth wicket partnership in the ICC Champions Trophy with his teammate Mahmudullah, scoring 225 runs. This duo also achieved the record of holding the highest partnership for the Bangladesh team of all time in the ODI format. 

Shakib is the only bowler of Bangladesh to take a five-wicket haul against all test-playing teams in the world. He is just the fourth bowler worldwide who achieved this record after Muttiah Muralitharan, Rangana Herath and Dale Steyn. In the Shere Bangla stadium in Bangaladesh, Shakib took a total of 76 T20 wickets and 112 ODI wickets, which is the highest to take by any player on a particular ground in the T20 and ODI formats. 

In the 2021 T20 World Cup, Shakib overtook Lasith Malinga and became the highest wicket-taker in the T20 format worldwide. Though in 2022, he was again overtaken by New Zealand’s ace pacer Tim Southee. 

In the 2021 T20 World Cup, Shakib became the first player in the world to score 12,000 plus runs and took more than 600 wickets including all three formats in the national circuit. 

Sher e Bangla Stadium in Bangladesh, Dhaka is a very lucky ground for Shakib because here he also scored a total of 4133 runs including all the formats, which is also the highest by any player to score on a particular ground. 

Shakib is the lone cricketer from Bangladesh who has able to score 1000 runs including all World Cups along with 100 wickets. He is only the second cricketer in the world who scored fifty-plus runs and took five wickets in a single match in World Cup after Indian all-rounder Yuvraj Singh. 

In the 2019 World Cup, Shakib joined with legend Sachin Tendulkar after scoring 7 half-centuries in a single World Cup tournament. 

Shakib is the only all-rounder worldwide who has scored 10,000 runs and 500 wickets at the lowest number of times in the international circuit. He is also the seventh player who scored a double century and duck in the same test match in the world. Shakib holds the record of scoring a century along with all 10 wickets in a single test match and he is the third player to achieve this target.  

Shakib’s Records As Captain And Vice Captain

Shakib is serving the Bangladesh national cricket team as vice-captain for years but on several occasions, he also had to take the responsibility of the captain for his team. Shakib lead the Bangladesh side in 14 test matches in his entire career and led the team to victory 3 times. 

Shakib captained the Bangladeshi cricket team 50 times in the ODI format and lead the team to victory 23 times. He also lead the team 14 times in T20Is and was able to lead the team to victory only 3 times.  

Shakib has led his national side on several occasions in his 16 years old cricketing career. He got his chance to play as a captain when he was just 22 years old and this made him the fifth youngest captain to lead a national team in the Test format. 

Shakib’s first captaincy tenure ended in the year 2011 but in 2017 he again got the chance to lead his team in the Test and T20 format. In 2019 his second tenure as captain ended and after that, he was banned by the ICC for 1 year from playing cricket.

In 2022, he again got his chance to play as a captain in the national side as his third tenure. In his entire career, Shakib captained a total of 92 matches including all formats where he leads the team 33 times to victory and 58 times in losing cases. 

Shakib’s IPL Career

Shakib’s IPL career was started in 2011 when he was bought by the Kolkata Knight Riders team from the mega auction as their leading all-rounder. He played a very vital role in the KKR side and helped the team to win the IPL trophy in 2012 and 2014 with his all-round ability. In the 2014 season of IPL, Shakib scored a total of 224 runs with the bat from 13 matches at an average of 32.42 with an excellent strike rate of 149.34 along with 11 wickets for KKR. 

After the 2104 season, Shakib got only 16 times to play in the next three seasons for KKR and in 2018 he eventually got released by the Kolkata Knight Riders side and was then bought by the Sunrisers Hyderabad team from the mega auction. But he could show his full all-round prowess in the Sunrisers team and a couple of seasons later he was also got released by the Sunrisers team.  

In 2021, Shakib was again bought by the Kolkata Knight Riders team but his performance that year was terribly poor as he just managed to score 47 runs with only 4 wickets from 8 matches he played. Before the 2022 mega auction, he was again released by the team and he remained unsold in the mega auction.  

Shakib Al Hasan is undoubtedly one of the best all-rounders in the world of cricket of all time. Though in his career he has faced a lot of controversies but his contribution towards the Bangladesh cricket team cannot be forgotten by any cricket fan. He has helped a lot to reach where the Bangladesh cricket team is right now.
